SpiceJet is set to enhance its operational capacity by inducting eight wet-leased aircraft ahead of the upcoming winter season. This strategic move includes the arrival of four Airbus A321 aircraft from Air One Moldova, which have already commenced passenger services. Additionally, four Boeing 737-800 aircraft from Smartwings are anticipated to join the airline's fleet soon.
These additions are part of a larger plan to incorporate 20 wet-leased aircraft to bolster SpiceJet's network and cater to increased passenger demand. The airline recently retired its last three Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft, bringing its active fleet to 15 aircraft after these new inductions.
The wet-leased planes will support operations through the busy winter and summer travel periods, contributing to greater capacity stability and easing pressure on airfares. This expansion is crucial as airlines prepare for heightened passenger traffic during the winter schedule, running from October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027.
Meanwhile, SpiceJet continues its operations from Terminal 1 at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The airline has not announced any plans to relocate to the new Navi Mumbai International Airport.
