Jobs Report, SpaceX IPO: A Crucial Week
2 Aug
Summary
- SpaceX to release its first earnings report as a public company.
- Key labor market data, including nonfarm payrolls, due Friday.
- Investors await AI-trade results from AMD, Palantir, and others.

Investors are bracing for a significant week, with SpaceX's debut earnings report as a public company taking center stage on Tuesday. This event follows the largest IPO in history and will scrutinize the company's spending and its justification, echoing questions posed to other Big Tech firms. The economic calendar is heavily weighted towards labor market data. JOLTS data arrives Tuesday, followed by ADP private employment on Wednesday and jobless claims Thursday. This culminates in the influential nonfarm payrolls report on Friday.
Economists anticipate approximately 88,000 jobs were added in July, an increase from June's 57,000. While below late 2025's monthly additions, these figures are considered healthy. A report in line with or weaker than expectations would support the Federal Reserve's stance on holding interest rates. This comes after the FOMC's recent decision, which saw the 30-year Treasury bond yield exceed 5.2% and the 10-year yield reach its highest point since January 2025.
