Sona BLW Precision Forgings, known as Sona Comstar, has officially terminated its planned captive solar power project located in Chennai. This decision was mutually agreed upon with project partners Seeyel Renewables and CSE Development (India) and takes effect from September 25, 2026.
The company initiated a comprehensive review of its business strategy, manufacturing footprint, and future energy procurement plans. This review revealed that the energy requirements originally envisioned for the solar project had changed materially since its initial conception in April 2024 and April 2026.
Furthermore, certain preconditions for the project agreements were not met within the stipulated timelines, leading to the termination. Sona Comstar has confirmed that this cancellation will not result in any financial impact on its operations or financial standing. Importantly, there are no termination fees, compensation, or damages involved.
