Singapore and China Establish Green and Digital Shipping Corridor

On October 25, 2025, Singapore and China signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a national green and digital shipping corridor between the two countries. This agreement is part of a broader effort to deepen cooperation and bilateral ties, as Chinese Premier Li Qiang visited Singapore for the first time in seven years.
The new shipping corridor will build on existing arrangements between Singapore and Tianjin municipality, as well as Shandong province, to test digital solutions and alternative fuels on shipping routes. The move aims to add to a growing global network of "green and digital shipping corridors" that Singapore has been establishing, including with the ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Rotterdam.
Under the MOU, Singapore and China will work with the maritime industry to advance decarbonization, improve the efficiency of ports and supply chains, and develop supporting technologies, infrastructure, and standards. The agreement leverages the respective strengths of the two countries in manufacturing, supply chain ecosystems, regulatory frameworks, and financial capabilities.
