Shiprocket, a prominent e-commerce enablement platform in India, has unveiled Appointment-Based Delivery (ABD). This new logistics service is engineered to provide MSMEs and D2C brands with warehouse-level precision for their bulk inventory dispatches.
The ABD service targets sellers distributing inventory to major platforms like Zepto, Blinkit, Flipkart, Myntra, Swiggy, and Amazon. Its controlled pilot phase demonstrated remarkable success, achieving 98% on-time adherence and setting a new benchmark for bulk logistics compliance within India.
This initiative from Shiprocket Cargo is set to transform how bulk dispatches are managed. By replacing unpredictable shipping with fixed delivery windows, brands gain direct command over their shipment timelines and warehouse compliance. On average, sellers have reported significant savings, with logistics costs reduced by up to 27% due to enhanced planning and elimination of last-minute carrier changes.
High-volume sellers moving inventory to quick-commerce dark stores, marketplace fulfillment centers, and distributor warehouses can now leverage ABD. The service allows them to book delivery slots, secure linehaul schedules, and monitor shipments in real-time directly through their existing Shiprocket dashboard.
Gautam Kapoor, COO of Shiprocket, highlighted the service's impact, stating, "With Appointment-Based Delivery, we offer the same infrastructure that supports the largest FMCG companies and marketplaces in India, now accessible to every seller on our platform." He added that enabling small brands to achieve up to a 98% delivery adherence rate is a significant advancement, positioning them to thrive in the quick commerce era.
Key results from the ABD pilot include a 98% on-time appointment adherence and a 27% reduction in per-shipment logistics costs. Furthermore, a dedicated Green Channel for expedited bookings on quick commerce platforms showed a 7% incremental improvement in delivery compliance. The service also contributed to up to a 10% reduction in warehouse rejection rates for participating sellers.
