Leading container shipping companies, A.P. Moller-Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd, have suspended major shipping routes serving the Middle East. These significant disruptions affect services connecting the region with Europe and East Asia, alongside intra-Gulf shuttle operations.
Maersk has ceased sailings through the Suez Canal and suspended vessel crossings in the Strait of Hormuz. Furthermore, the company has stopped accepting bookings for temperature-controlled and dangerous-goods cargo, as well as dry cargo, to and from several nations in the area, including the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
Hapag-Lloyd has similarly halted several services, including its Oman Gulf and Upper Gulf shuttles. The company has also suspended routes that link Asia with the Arabian Gulf, as well as those connecting the Middle East with the Mediterranean.
