Veteran journalist K Govindan Kutty, widely known as KGK in journalistic circles, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 81 in Thiruvananthapuram. He had been unwell for several months.
Kutty began his career at All India Radio before transitioning to print journalism. He contributed to numerous national publications, where his reporting often garnered attention at both state and national levels.
His career highlights include being the first to report the 1977 plane crash that nearly claimed the life of then Prime Minister Morarji Desai. Kutty was on the same flight covering the PM's Northeast tour.
In addition to his extensive journalism career, Govindan Kutty was also a prolific author, penning 10 books in English and Malayalam. His notable works include 'An Intimate Story' about former chief election commissioner T N Seshan, and 'A Wasted Death' detailing the rise and fall of Rajan Pillai.
