SECL Launches India's First Paste Filling Project for Safer, Greener Mining

In a significant development for the Indian coal industry, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has launched Coal India's first paste filling technology project at the Singhali underground mine under the DSB sub-area of Korba. This project, which was initiated on November 11, 2025, is expected to produce around 8.4 million tonnes of coal over the next 25 years.
The implementation of this underground mining technology is a crucial step towards promoting safe and eco-friendly mining practices. SECL, which operates coal mines in the states of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, has signed a ₹7,040 crore agreement with TMC Mineral Resources to undertake large-scale coal production using the paste fill technology at the Singhali mine.
