Sarda Energy plans ₹300 crore green capex
25 Jul
Summary
- Sarda Energy subsidiary approves ₹300 crore capex.
- Expansion includes waste heat recovery and mineral wool.
- Company aims to be debt-free by June 2026.

Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd.'s wholly-owned subsidiary, Sarda Metals & Alloys Ltd., has greenlit a substantial ₹300 crore capital expenditure project. This investment will facilitate the installation of a waste heat recovery power plant and the expansion of its mineral wool manufacturing operations at its existing Vizianagaram facility.
The strategic capex is aligned with the company's "green initiative" and aims to enhance operational efficiency and capacity. This move comes as Sarda Energy anticipates a strong first quarter of fiscal year 2027, driven by improved power realisations.
Furthermore, Sarda Energy is on track to become debt-free on a consolidated basis by June 2026. The company has already achieved a debt-free status on a standalone basis, with net debt reducing by 85% to approximately ₹200 crore as of March 2026 from previous highs.
Most ongoing capital expenditures, including mining projects, are funded through internal accruals. While debt might see a temporary increase for the SKS power plant expansion, the overall financial strategy prioritizes debt reduction and sustainable growth.
