Sandwich Starr, which specialized in East Coast-inspired subs, coffee, beer, and wine, ceased operations on January 16th, marking the end of its less-than-two-year run in Tacoma's Stadium District. The restaurant, located at 102 N. G St., was opened by Trey Beattie and Megan Laffler in 2024. Beattie drew inspiration from his Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, upbringing to create sandwiches like the Sir Robot with pastrami and The White Rabbit with aioli, incorporating local ingredients such as microgreens and kimchi.
The 2,300-square-foot space was sub-leased from Anthem Coffee, which had previously occupied the location. Anthem Coffee is now seeking new tenants or businesses for a shared food hall concept in the storefront. This closure highlights ongoing struggles within the Stadium District's retail corridor, with other nearby businesses also having closed.
