Chennai's Sameera Group is planning a substantial investment of ₹1,500 crore to ₹1,800 crore over the next four to five years. This significant capital infusion will be directed towards developing five to six industrial parks across Tamil Nadu, signaling the company's strategic entry into industrial warehousing as both a developer and landlord.
The group's inaugural project is slated for Singadivakkam village, within the Sriperumbudur-Kanchipuram industrial belt. This development will require an investment between ₹150 crore and ₹170 crore, aiming to create about 4.5 lakh sq ft of warehouse space on a 16-acre site. Necessary approvals are secured, and the construction tendering process is currently underway.
This new venture represents a pivot from Sameera Group's prior business model, which focused on selling land for industrial use. The company now intends to develop facilities itself and lease them to occupiers, leveraging Chennai's robust industrial ecosystem, available labor, and existing infrastructure to drive demand.
Further expansion is planned, with the group having already acquired land parcels and identified additional locations in Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu districts. Funding for this ambitious warehousing expansion will be sourced from a combination of the group's internal cash flows and bank borrowings, ensuring a solid financial footing for its future endeavors.
