Summary

- The lawsuit alleges anticompetitive practices by Microsoft's Teams app.
- Concerns focus on bundling and tying of Teams to limit customer choice.

Salesforce and its messaging platform Slack filed a lawsuit against Microsoft in London on April 23rd. The complaint lodged at the High Court alleges anticompetitive behavior by Microsoft concerning its Teams application. Slack stated that Microsoft's practices harmed competition through the tying and bundling of Teams, thereby limiting consumer options.
This legal action follows similar concerns raised by Slack with the European Commission in 2020. At that time, Slack accused Microsoft of unfairly leveraging its dominant position by bundling Teams with its Office products. Microsoft had previously reached an agreement with the European Commission to avoid fines by offering reduced prices for Office products that excluded Teams.
