Salesforce has announced its intention to acquire Fin, a company previously known as Intercom, for an estimated $3.6 billion. This acquisition is aimed at significantly advancing Salesforce's offerings in AI-powered customer service. Fin operates as an AI-first entity, deploying its agents across multiple communication platforms including live chat, email, WhatsApp, SMS, phone, and Slack.
The deal also grants Salesforce access to Fin's proprietary Apex model, which was developed independently of third-party AI solutions like GPT and Gemini. Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, highlighted Fin's proven agent technology and skilled AI team, emphasizing their role in complementing and strengthening Salesforce's Agentforce platform.
Fin's technology boasts an impressive success rate, with its AI agents successfully resolving more than three out of every four customer inquiries. This capability is particularly valuable as Salesforce continues to expand its AI services. The acquisition is subject to regulatory approval and is anticipated to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2026.
Fin's CEO, Eoghan McCabe, expressed enthusiasm about joining forces with Salesforce, noting the accelerated deployment potential across Salesforce's extensive global customer base of 30,000 organizations. This partnership is expected to amplify Fin's reach significantly.
