Russia Eyes China's Robot Market Lead

Russia is positioning itself to challenge China's dominance in the industrial and service robot sectors. Alexander Shokhin, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, stated that the nation's progress in robotics creates a real possibility for competition. This advancement is seen as critical for enhancing labor productivity.

Shokhin indicated that Russian manufacturers should focus on entering international markets. While acknowledging China's current strength, he clarified that Russia's aim is not to replicate anthropomorphic robots but to excel in industrial and service applications. He stressed the importance of technological cooperation with China, while also advising against becoming overly dependent on Chinese technology.

The discussion, held at a session on labor productivity, linked robotization and artificial intelligence directly to economic development. Shokhin concluded that investing in these technologies, alongside automation, is a key driver for sustainable growth, complementing traditional efficiency methods like lean production.
