Indian Railways Gets Rs 3,907 Cr Boost for Key Projects

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has sanctioned two vital railway projects with an aggregate cost of Rs 3,907 crore. These approvals aim to boost Indian Railways' infrastructure by increasing line capacity and refining operational efficiency across key sections.
The approved projects include the doubling of the Paradeep-Haridaspur railway section and the addition of a fourth line between Rajkharsawan and Dangoaposi. These enhancements are designed to streamline operations and reduce congestion.
Aligned with the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan, these initiatives focus on integrated planning for multi-modal connectivity and logistic efficiency. They are projected to extend the railway network by 145 kilometers across Odisha and Jharkhand, improving access for approximately 1.5 million people.
The capacity augmentation is anticipated to significantly boost freight traffic by an estimated 44 MTPA. Additionally, the projects are expected to improve rail connectivity to important tourist destinations and facilitate the transportation of essential commodities like coal and iron ore.
