India Boosts Rail Network: Rs 2,781 Cr for New Lines

The Union Cabinet has recently approved two major railway line doubling projects in Maharashtra and Gujarat, representing an investment of approximately Rs 2,781 crore. This infrastructure development is designed to significantly boost mobility along vital freight corridors and key industrial routes.
The approved projects include the 141 km Kanalus to Okha (Devbhumi Dwarka) doubling and the 32 km third and fourth line for Badlapur to Karjat. These efforts will collectively increase the Indian Railways' network by 224 km, enhancing connectivity to nearly 585 villages and serving a population of about 32 lakhs.
The Kanalus-Okha line will improve access to the Dwarkadhish temple and foster development in the Saurashtra region. Meanwhile, the Badlapur-Karjat line will alleviate congestion in the Mumbai suburban corridor, meeting future passenger demands and improving connections to Southern India.
