Ahead of the festive season, the Union Cabinet approved a significant Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) for 11,40,770 railway employees. This bonus totals Rs 2,009.61 crore, with each eligible non-gazetted employee set to receive a maximum of Rs 17,951. The payout is equivalent to 78 days' wages for these workers.
The bonus is an annual tradition, disbursed before the Durga Puja and Dussehra holidays. It aims to recognize the efforts of railway staff and motivate them to enhance operational performance. Beneficiaries include track maintainers, loco pilots, station masters, technicians, and Group C employees.
This announcement coincides with Indian Railways' strong performance in the 2025-26 financial year. The national transporter achieved a record 1,670 million tonnes of freight loading and transported approximately 7.41 billion passengers during that period.
