Royal Gold's Q2 Surge: Record Cash, Share Buybacks Continue
16 Aug
Summary
- Revenue soared 115% to $451 million in Q2 2026.
- Record operating cash flow of $335 million marks significant growth.
- Company repurchased shares amid strong financial performance.

Royal Gold has announced a dramatic increase in its second-quarter 2026 financial performance, reporting revenue of $451 million, a 115% jump from the previous year. The company also achieved a record $335 million in operating cash flow and $236 million in net income, marking substantial growth. This performance is attributed to strategic diversification through 2025 acquisitions, which have spread out risk, with no single royalty or stream now dominating revenue.
Despite this strong showing, Royal Gold continued to repurchase shares, with management indicating that the market has not yet fully recognized the portfolio's value. Capital returns were robust, including $40 million in dividends and $30 million in share repurchases during the quarter. The company also made significant progress on its revolving credit facility, repaying $200 million and planning further reductions.
However, the record financial results were accompanied by record costs. Depreciation, depletion, and amortization expenses more than tripled year-over-year, largely due to increased carrying values from recent asset acquisitions. General and administrative expenses and interest expenses also rose. Additionally, a portion of the revenue growth was non-repeatable, including an advanced delivery of ounces tied to a settlement and temporary weather-related disruptions in Chile.
