4 Feb
Summary
- Rolls-Royce targets new deals with upgraded Trent 1000 XE engines for Boeing 787.
- The company aims to win back customers after years of losing ground.
- Rolls-Royce is also studying a return to the single-aisle market.

Rolls-Royce Holdings Plc is aggressively pursuing new business and sales campaigns with its enhanced Trent 1000 XE engines, designed for Boeing's 787 Dreamliner. The company aims to reclaim market share on the widebody aircraft after a period where GE Aerospace engines were overwhelmingly preferred by customers.
This strategic push, led by Rob Watson of Rolls-Royce's civil aero engine business, emphasizes the new engine's promise of greater durability. The Trent 1000 XE has been in production since the latter half of last year, with the company actively engaging in sales efforts at events like the Singapore Airshow.
Beyond the 787 program, Rolls-Royce is exploring strategic partnerships to potentially re-enter the single-aisle aircraft market. This comes after their withdrawal from the International Aero Engines consortium in 2012. The company is also developing next-generation propulsion systems like the Ultrafan, integrating technological advancements into existing Trent engines.
