Japanese semiconductor firm ROHM Co. has partnered with Tata Electronics to establish a significant chip manufacturing presence in India. This collaboration aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem encompassing design, development, and production within the country, serving both Indian and global markets.
The partnership will focus on power semiconductors, merging ROHM's advanced device technologies with Tata Electronics' capabilities in semiconductor assembly and testing. As a first step, Tata Electronics will assemble and test ROHM's automotive-grade Nch Si MOSFET chips, with mass production anticipated by next year.
Beyond manufacturing, both companies intend to leverage their respective sales channels to expand business opportunities in India. Future plans include exploring co-development of high-value packaging technologies, further solidifying India's position in the semiconductor supply chain.
