Rockstar Games Accused of Union Busting Amid GTA 6 Delays
13 Nov
Summary
- Rockstar fired 31 GTA 6 developers, allegedly for unionization efforts
- Delay of GTA 6 release to November 2026, costing Rockstar up to $500 million
- Protests outside Rockstar's London office over employee silencing

As of November 13th, 2025, Rockstar Games is facing a growing legal battle over the dismissal of several members of the GTA 6 development team. According to reports, the company fired 31 developers in late October, just months before the game's next major production phase was set to begin.
Rockstar has claimed the firings were the result of "internal investigations into leaks" related to GTA 6 content. However, the Independent Workers of Great Britain (IWGB) trade union has filed formal legal claims against the studio, alleging the developers were terminated in retaliation for their efforts to unionize.
The IWGB has accused Rockstar of unfairly dismissing and blacklisting employees who pushed for better working conditions. This controversy has now been linked to a six-month delay in the release of GTA 6, which was recently pushed back from May 2026 to November 2026. Industry analysts estimate this delay could cost Rockstar up to $500 million in lost marketing opportunities and production rescheduling.
Outside Rockstar's London office, protests led by former staff and IWGB members have drawn public attention to the allegations of employee silencing and discouragement of collective organization. The union has requested a meeting with Rockstar and parent company Take-Two Interactive, but no official response has been made as of November 13th, 2025.
