Restructuring Firm Advising Manchester United on Cost-Cuts Prepares for £900M Sale
16 Nov
Summary
- Interpath Advisory, spun out of KPMG in 2021, to be sold for £900M
- Advising Sir Jim Ratcliffe on cost-cutting at Manchester United
- Attracted interest from major buyout firms like Blackstone, Bridgepoint

In November 2025, the restructuring firm Interpath Advisory, which was drafted in to advise Sir Jim Ratcliffe on a radical cost-cutting program at Manchester United Football Club, is preparing to be put up for sale with a £900 million price tag.
Advisers to HIG Europe, the majority shareholder in Interpath, are set to begin circulating information about the business to potential buyers on Monday. City insiders have revealed that HIG has received a large volume of inbound inquiries from prospective suitors since it emerged that the firm was in the process of appointing bankers at Moelis to handle an auction.
Prominent buyout firms like Blackstone, Bridgepoint, Onex, PAI Partners, and Permira are expected to show interest in acquiring Interpath. The firm was spun out of KPMG UK in 2021 due to growing concerns over conflicts of interest between accountancy giants' audit and consulting arms.
Since HIG Europe acquired Interpath four-and-a-half years ago, the firm has reportedly doubled its earnings and is on track to record a 20% increase in annual revenues in the current financial year. A sale of Interpath is expected to be agreed during the first quarter of 2026.
