Renault has launched its Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 in the Indian market, starting at Rs 16.99 lakh and going up to Rs 19.49 lakh. This introduction signifies Renault's commitment to electrification in India, bringing its globally recognized strong-hybrid technology to the country for the first time.
The new Duster hybrid combines a 1.8-litre petrol engine with two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery, delivering a total of 160 PS. It features an innovative multi-mode automatic transmission, drawing inspiration from Formula 1, which optimizes driving efficiency through various combinations.
Renault claims an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 29 kmpl, with the potential for up to 80 percent of city driving to be conducted in pure electric mode. This hybrid system promises up to a 29 percent fuel saving compared to equivalent diesel models.
Beyond its powertrain, the Duster retains its SUV capabilities with 212 mm ground clearance. It also offers features like a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a 10.1-inch infotainment system. The interior boasts new upholstery options.
Renault is marketing this hybrid Duster as a strong contender against diesel SUVs in the Rs 17 lakh to Rs 20 lakh price range. It aims to bridge the gap between traditional petrol SUVs and fully electric vehicles with its blend of performance, efficiency, and self-charging hybrid technology.
