Reddit's AI Ads Fuel Revenue Surge, Surpassing Estimates

Reddit has projected third-quarter revenue that surpasses Wall Street's expectations, indicating that its strategy to attract marketers with AI-powered advertising tools is proving effective. The company reported that its ad tools, which offer a library of successful ads, generate custom ad copy, and enable targeted advertising within subreddit discussions, are enhancing campaign performance.

In the second quarter, Reddit experienced a 61% rise in revenue, reaching $805 million. Advertiser growth was particularly strong, with a 70% year-over-year increase, especially among mid-market businesses and international advertisers. This growth is crucial as Reddit navigates a competitive social media landscape.

While global daily active users grew 18% to 130.3 million, growth in U.S. daily active unique visitors slowed sequentially. Management attributed this to 'SEO headwinds' from search algorithm changes, which offset user acquisition efforts. Nevertheless, product enhancements are helping convert search engine visitors into loyal app users.

Reddit forecasts third-quarter revenue between $860 million and $870 million, exceeding analysts' average estimate of $829.1 million. The company also expects adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization to be between $385 million and $395 million, also above estimates.
