The Indian automotive industry is celebrating a landmark Q3 FY26, marked by record-breaking sales across passenger and two-wheeler segments. Passenger vehicle volumes soared to an all-time high of 1.27 million units, a significant 20.6% year-on-year increase. This performance positions Q3 FY26 as the strongest quarter on record for this category.
Two-wheelers mirrored this success, achieving their highest-ever Q3 volumes with 5.70 million units sold, reflecting a 16.9% year-on-year growth. Exports also saw substantial gains, with PV shipments rising 11.7% year-on-year to 225,000 units, bolstered by steady demand from regions including the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
Brokerage firms anticipate strong revenue and profit growth for the sector in Q3 FY26, estimating revenue increases between 18-32% and PAT growth between 15-35% year-on-year. This optimistic outlook is attributed to volume recovery, favorable product mixes, and operating leverage, despite challenges from rising input costs and discounting.
