Safety Alert: Ram Pickups Recalled for Critical Faults
22 Dec
Summary
- Airbag inflators may rupture, expelling fragments and causing injury.
- Instrument cluster may fail to illuminate critical safety warnings.
- Affected Ram models include 1500, 2500, and 3500 pick-ups.

Ram Trucks Australia has issued a widespread recall affecting its 1500, 2500, and 3500 pick-up truck lines. The recall addresses two distinct and serious safety concerns that necessitate immediate attention from vehicle owners.
The first issue concerns a manufacturing defect in the left and right curtain airbag inflators of the Ram 1500 DS model. These inflators carry the risk of unexpected rupture, which could propel metal fragments and compressed gas into the cabin, posing a grave threat of serious injury or even fatality to occupants.
Furthermore, a separate software issue impacts the instrument cluster on Ram 1500 (DT), 2500 (DJ), and 3500 (D2) models. This fault can prevent crucial visual warnings for the brake system, gear selection, and other safety indicators from illuminating. The absence of these warnings while driving increases the likelihood of accidents, endangering occupants and the public. Owners of affected vehicles are advised to contact their Ram dealer for inspection and necessary repairs.
