Rajasthan Farmers March on SDM Office Demanding Action
21 Jan
Summary
- Farmers blocked a mega highway and protested at the SDM's office.
- Demands include insurance claims, subsidies, and land encroachment removal.
- A previous protest on December 9 had not resulted in fulfilled demands.

Farmers from Gudamalani in Balotra district staged a protest on Tuesday, initially blocking a mega highway connecting Barmer to Bikaner. The demonstration involved tractors, slogans, and bhajans before farmers proceeded on foot to the SDM's office to continue their dharna.
Discussions were held between a farmer delegation and officials, including the Balotra ADM and Gudamalani SDM. Farmers highlighted that their demands, raised during a prior protest on December 9, such as insurance claims, subsidies, and the removal of encroachments from land designated for a Kisan Vigyan Kendra, had not been addressed.
Meanwhile, former minister Hemaram Chaudhary encouraged broader support for farmers, advocating for unity across caste and party lines to ensure farmers receive their due from the state government.
