Chinese wireless device manufacturer Quectel has filed a lawsuit against its rival, Telit, alleging a widespread disinformation campaign. Quectel claims Telit made and promoted false assertions that its modules could be manipulated by the Chinese government.
This alleged campaign has reportedly harmed Quectel's customer relationships and contributed to the Pentagon's decision in January to add Quectel to a list of companies suspected of aiding Beijing's military. Quectel is already engaged in a separate ongoing lawsuit against the Pentagon, filed in May, denying these allegations.
The lawsuit, filed in US District Court in Florida, accuses Telit of commercial disparagement, false advertising, and deceptive trade practices. Quectel contends that Telit presented itself as a safer "Western" alternative while spreading these untruths.
