24 Aug
Summary
- A new two-storey RMS building at Prayagraj Junction is ready.
- The facility aims to enhance postal and parcel handling efficiency.
- It will ease congestion on the city side before the Magh Mela.

A new two-storey Railway Mail Service (RMS) building on the Civil Lines side of Prayagraj Junction is set to be handed over by December. This development is crucial for enhancing the station's postal and parcel handling capabilities, particularly in anticipation of the Magh Mela. The facility is expected to become operational before this major religious congregation.
The high-tech RMS building offers direct connectivity to Nawab Yusuf Road, streamlining the movement of postal consignments and parcels. Its activation is vital for managing the expected surge in mail traffic during the Magh Mela. This will help in handling increased loads without disruption.
Once operational, the new RMS facility will allow mail services to function from the Civil Lines side, thereby reducing congestion on the busy city side. The old RMS building on the city side will be demolished, and its land will be used for a new facility, serving a dual purpose of increased capacity and reduced traffic.
Preparations are underway to make the Civil Lines-side infrastructure fully functional before the mela. The new RMS building is poised to improve the speed and efficiency of mail and parcel handling. This strategic relocation aims to enhance RMS capacity and alleviate congestion around the Prayagraj Junction city side.
