Pocket FM, an audio storytelling platform, has achieved a significant milestone, doubling its annualized revenue run rate to $500 million over the past year. This growth is largely attributed to its strategic adoption of artificial intelligence in content creation.
AI now constitutes 93% of Pocket FM's entire catalog and is responsible for producing 99% of its new content. This technological integration has dramatically reduced production costs by an estimated 80 times, enabling the creation of 100 hours of content in a single day, a task that previously took a year.
The platform's extensive library now exceeds 770,000 audio series, with creators producing approximately 2.5 million hours of AI-powered content annually. This surge in content has directly contributed to a rise in listener retention, from 44% to 76% over the last two years.
Pocket FM's expansion into markets like the UK, Germany, and France, alongside its user-generated content initiative in the US, has further propelled its growth. The US market is now its largest, accounting for about 70% of its revenue. The company is also exploring new formats, with its microdrama app, Pocket Saga, already showing strong revenue potential.
Pocket Entertainment, the parent company, is exploring further ventures beyond audio, including AI-generated videos and potential licensing deals for books and screen adaptations. The company is reportedly in discussions to raise fresh capital to invest in AI and new entertainment formats.
