A significant clean energy initiative is underway, set to deliver new, around-the-clock power to the PJM grid. MN8 Energy, Eos Energy Enterprises, and Google have partnered to create an integrated energy solution.
The project will feature 86 MW of utility-scale solar power, complemented by 10 MW/100 MWh of Eos' zinc-based long-duration energy storage and 70 MW/280 MWh of lithium-ion storage. This combination aims to convert intermittent solar generation into a dispatchable resource.
This innovative capacity solution is custom-designed for MN8's Mammoth Solar project in Kanawha County, West Virginia. It is slated to be the first commercial-scale long-duration energy storage deployment in the state, expected to reach operation between 2028 and 2030.
Google will purchase the energy, capacity, and clean energy attributes, supporting its commitment to backing solutions that accelerate clean energy progress. This initiative also aims to advance long-duration energy storage technology commercialization.
