Pepsi has officially introduced its Prebiotic Cola to stores across the United States, responding to a rising consumer demand for healthier beverage options. This new drink, which completely sold out during its initial Black Friday debut, is being highlighted as the first legacy cola to include prebiotic fiber.

The beverage is formulated with 3 grams of prebiotic fiber, aligning with a broader consumer trend toward products supporting gut health. Pepsi's offering comes in original cola and cherry vanilla flavors, containing 30 calories and 5 grams of sugar without artificial sweeteners.

Experts suggest that while prebiotic drinks can offer modest benefits for digestion and gut microbes, they should not replace fiber from whole foods. They caution that excessive consumption can lead to digestive discomfort, and that current products may not provide significant daily fiber intake. Companies have not always specified the type of prebiotic fiber used, making it difficult to assess health benefits.

Pepsi Prebiotic Cola is available nationwide in 12 oz. single cans and 8-packs. The launch follows Coca-Cola's introduction of its own prebiotic soda, Simply Pop Prebiotic Soda, last year, which contained 6 grams of prebiotic fiber.
