Parle Products Eyes IPO for Partial Promoter Exit
28 Apr
Summary
- Parle Products is in early talks with banks for a potential IPO.
- The proposed offering is likely to be fully secondary, offering promoters an exit.
- India's biscuit market is shifting towards premium and cookie segments.

Parle Products, the renowned maker of Parle-G biscuits, is reportedly in the preliminary stages of exploring a public market debut. The company has initiated conversations with at least five investment banks, including Kotak Mahindra Bank, JM Financial, and Axis Bank, regarding a potential Initial Public Offering (IPO).
Sources indicate that if the IPO proceeds, it will likely be a fully secondary transaction. This means existing shareholders, who are currently the 100% promoter-owned Chauhan family, would sell a portion of their stakes. No primary issuance to raise fresh capital for the company is being considered at this time.
Parle Products, founded in 1929, reported a total income of approximately ₹16,191 crore for the financial year ending March 2025. This potential listing would place it in direct public market comparison with its rival, Britannia Industries, which reported FY25 revenue of ₹17,943 crore.
The Indian biscuit, cookies, and crackers market, valued at ₹1.16 lakh crore in 2025, is projected to grow significantly. There is a notable consumer shift from traditional glucose biscuits towards premium cookies featuring ingredients like oats and nuts, as well as low-sugar options.
