Palfinger Bets on India: ₹350 Crore Plant in Pune

Palfinger AG, a leading manufacturer of lifting equipment, is significantly expanding its presence in India by localizing production. The company has entered into a comprehensive agreement with TVS Mobility Group, its long-standing distributor in the country since 2007. This collaboration will see TVS Mobility take on an expanded role in supply chain management, dealership operations, and aftermarket support.

This strategic partnership aims to build scale and improve operational efficiency. Palfinger CEO Andreas Klauser highlighted that the alliance will enhance parts availability and service responsiveness, creating a scalable foundation for sustained growth. R Dinesh of TVS Mobility Group emphasized leveraging their integrated ecosystem for faster market entry and efficient lifecycle support.

Palfinger is investing ₹350 crore to establish a new manufacturing facility in Pune, with production slated to begin by 2027. The plant will have an initial capacity exceeding 1,000 cranes annually, alongside steel components for export. This move aligns with India's rapidly growing construction equipment market, valued at approximately $6 billion and fueled by infrastructure investments.

The partnership extends to jointly exploring opportunities within the defence sector. Palfinger's growth in India has been driven by imports over the past decade, and localization is now seen as the key to unlocking substantial volume growth across various market segments.
