Origin Bancorp's Profit Soars on 'Optimize Origin' Success
24 Jul
Summary
- Origin Bancorp reported its strongest quarterly earnings since Q4 2021.
- Loan growth was primarily driven by Texas and Southeast markets.
- The company added 12 experienced bankers in recent months.

Origin Bancorp has reported its strongest quarterly earnings since the fourth quarter of 2021, with diluted earnings per share of $1.09 and net income totaling $33.8 million. The bank's return on average assets reached 1.35%, exceeding its objective of 1.15% for the period.
This improved financial performance is attributed to the "Optimize Origin" initiative, launched approximately 18 months ago. This strategy emphasizes stronger financial results, strategic capital allocation, technology investment, talent recruitment, and enhanced client service.
The company noted significant loan growth, with Texas and Southeast markets leading the way. Since April 1, Origin Bank has welcomed 12 new experienced bankers and expanded its presence in Birmingham, Alabama, alongside strengthening teams in North Texas, Houston, East Texas, and Mississippi.
Year-to-date loan growth includes $196 million in commercial and industrial and owner-occupied commercial real estate loans. Total loans increased sequentially by 2.7% during the quarter, and management anticipates continued mid- to high-single-digit growth for the year.
