Specialty pharmaceutical firm Orbicular Pharmaceutical Technologies is exploring a significant stake sale, with potential valuations reaching up to $1.5 billion. Early interest has been shown by prominent private equity firms, including Warburg Pincus and CVC Capital Partners. Jefferies has been appointed as the advisor for this transaction.
Orbicular, founded in 2010 and based in Hyderabad, operates as a research-oriented product development company. Its strategy centers on creating complex pharmaceutical formulations, such as injectables and nasal sprays, for niche and generic markets. These products are then licensed to global partners.
The company has seen substantial financial growth, reporting operating income of ₹525 crore and a net profit of ₹53.3 crore in FY26. As of March 2026, Orbicular had filed over 90 abbreviated new drug applications (ANDAs), with more than 66 receiving approvals, including a notable semaglutide molecule in the Canadian market.
This investor interest comes as India solidifies its position as a global pharmaceutical powerhouse, ranking third in production volume and eleventh in value. The domestic pharma market, currently valued at around $60 billion, is projected to more than double by 2030.
