Oklo Achieves First Criticality, Revenue Milestone

Oklo marked a pivotal month in August, reporting its first corporate revenue of around $1.2 million, largely generated from services. This significant financial news followed closely on the heels of its Groves reactor in Lockhart, Texas, achieving its first controlled nuclear chain reaction, a critical milestone known as first criticality. Construction for this test reactor began less than a year prior.

However, the company's future revenue streams are contingent on its Aurora powerhouses, which are not yet operational. Oklo's projections indicate that its first commercial power revenue is unlikely before 2028. The Aurora-INL project at Idaho National Laboratory, for instance, has an ambitious target for deployment in 2028, with construction having started on September 22, 2025.

The regulatory pathway for Aurora-INL involves five steps with the Department of Energy. As of August 24, 2026, two steps are complete: the Nuclear Safety Design Agreement and the Preliminary Documented Safety Analysis. The remaining steps, along with securing fuel, are critical for future operations. The initial core relies on a Department of Energy award of high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU), which Oklo must fabricate.

Commercial HALEU deliveries for subsequent powerhouses from Centrus Energy are not anticipated until 2029, further influencing Oklo's long-term revenue timeline and operational schedule.
