11 Sep
Summary
- AI market projected to reach $3-$4 trillion by 2030.
- Nvidia's Data Center revenue surged to $89 billion.
- Demand for GPUs exceeds supply, impacting growth.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has reiterated his bold prediction that the artificial intelligence market will reach a staggering $3 trillion to $4 trillion by the year 2030. This forecast was originally made one year ago at the same industry conference. Huang cited fundamental shifts in computing, including a new layer of applications and the end of Moore's Law, coupled with increasing user expectations for smarter AI models, as drivers for this exponential industry growth.
Nvidia's recent financial performance strongly supports Huang's outlook. The company announced adjusted earnings per share of $2.22 on revenue of $96.2 billion, surpassing analyst expectations. Crucially, Data Center revenue, a key segment for AI infrastructure, reached $89 billion, exceeding projections. Even Edge Computing, encompassing AI and gaming, delivered $7.2 billion in revenue.
Despite the impressive figures, Nvidia is grappling with unprecedented demand for its graphics processing units (GPUs). Huang indicated that revenue growth could be significantly higher than the projected 70% for fiscal year 2028 if not for memory chip shortages. This sentiment was echoed by CoreWeave CEO Michael Intrator, who stated that every GPU is in high demand, highlighting a unique and ongoing market moment.
