- Novo CEO believes obesity drug demand is underestimated by investors.
- New pill options will prevent a winner-take-all scenario.
- Novo aims for a diversified portfolio similar to its diabetes treatments.

Novo Nordisk CEO Mike Doustdar believes the market for obesity drugs is far from a "winner-take-all" situation, despite intense competition from Eli Lilly.
Doustdar emphasized that patient demand for differentiated treatments is high. He predicted that as new medicines become available, the market will segment, offering various choices rather than a single dominant drug.
Comparing the burgeoning GLP-1 market to Novo's established diabetes portfolio, Doustdar highlighted that the company offers 12 different insulin brands. Similarly, he anticipates a future with multiple GLP-1 drugs, each with unique benefits, serving the vast patient population.
Novo's current pill version of Wegovy holds a significant share of the oral GLP-1 market. Doustdar expressed confidence in a potential 50-50 split between oral and injectable treatments. He also noted that the experimental drug CagriSema, despite recent trial disappointments, will be a valuable addition to doctors' treatment options when launched next year.
