Novelis Plant Fire Erupts Again, F-150 Production Threatened

A fire reignited at Novelis' aluminum plant in Oswego, New York, on Thursday, posing a renewed threat to Ford's crucial F-150 truck production. This latest incident occurred approximately two months after a prior blaze significantly hampered the facility's output.
Ford, a major customer for the Oswego plant due to its extensive use of aluminum in its truck bodies, had previously announced a substantial profit forecast reduction of up to $2 billion following the September fire. The automaker also paused production of its F-150 Lightning electric pickup.
Novelis, which supplies other automakers as well, had projected a restart of operations by the end of December. However, a spokesperson stated it is too early to determine if Thursday's fire will alter this schedule. Fortunately, all employees were safely evacuated, and local fire departments brought the blaze under control.
