German premium kitchen manufacturer Nolte Küchen is set to substantially grow its footprint in India, with plans to establish 20 retail stores by the close of 2026. This expansion underscores India's strategic importance as a key growth market for the company, aiming to boost its international business contribution amidst slower demand in Europe.
Nolte is directly entering the Indian market, establishing a local entity and rebuilding its dealer network. The company currently operates 13 stores and intends to add seven more by the end of this year, with expansion targeting major cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad. This move aims to secure a larger share of India's approximately $1 billion kitchen market.
The Indian kitchen market, estimated to grow at 15-20% annually, is highly fragmented, with over 70% dominated by the unorganized sector and European brands holding only about 2%. Nolte also sees a significant opportunity in the residential real estate sector, where built-in kitchens are uncommon, working with developers to promote integrated kitchen solutions.
As Europe's kitchen market faces challenges, Nolte is refocusing on faster-growing regions like India. While all kitchens are currently manufactured in Germany, the company is open to future local production if demand warrants it. Nolte's immediate focus is on bringing German engineering standards to India while adapting products to local preferences.
