The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued the aerodrome license for Noida International Airport (NIA) at Jewar in Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. This license is a crucial step for the airport's operational readiness and signifies a major advancement for India's growing aviation industry.
The airport, developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, is being built under a public-private partnership. It is designed for all-weather operations with a 3,900-meter runway. Initially, the airport will have a capacity to handle 12 million passengers per year during its first phase.
Upon the completion of all four development phases, Noida International Airport is projected to become a major aviation hub, capable of serving up to 70 million passengers annually. This expansion will significantly improve connectivity for the National Capital Region and western Uttar Pradesh, fostering investment, tourism, and employment opportunities.
