22 Jan
Summary
- Noida International Airport at Jewar likely to miss its February 2026 launch date.
- Significant work remains unfinished, requiring subsequent regulatory clearances.
- The project has already missed multiple deadlines since September 2024.

The Noida International Airport at Jewar is set to miss its February 2026 operational launch. Unfinished development work and pending regulatory clearances from aviation bodies are cited as reasons for the delay. This comes shortly after the Union Civil Aviation Minister announced the February 2026 target.
The project has already encountered several missed deadlines, with the earliest set for September 2024. Security and aviation approvals are still pending, with a spokesperson stating coordination with the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security and Directorate General of Civil Aviation for final licensing steps.
Despite these setbacks, airport officials maintain that the ₹6,800 crore project has not experienced cost escalations. Once operational, the airport aims to alleviate pressure on Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport and enhance the National Capital Region's status as an aviation hub.
