Nifty Copper Complex Poised for Production
17 Jul
Summary
- Copper cathode production targeted for September quarter restart.
- Construction and refurbishment nearing completion at Nifty site.
- Company holds A$68.5 million cash for restart and growth.

Cyprium Metals is on the cusp of resuming copper cathode production at its Nifty Copper Complex in Western Australia. The company anticipates achieving first production during the September quarter, marking a significant milestone in its Phase 1 restart program. Substantial progress has been made on construction and refurbishment, with the project now shifting towards commissioning and operational readiness.
The company's financial position is robust, ending the June quarter with A$68.5 million in cash, which will support the Nifty restart as well as ongoing growth and exploration efforts. Key developments during the recent quarter included the recommissioning of an acid storage terminal and the resumption of sulphuric acid deliveries, essential for the solvent extraction and electrowinning (SXEW) plant.
Beyond the immediate restart, Cyprium Metals is exploring an expansion of Nifty's annual cathode production capacity. This growth plan involves evaluating the refurbishment of the larger 'A Train' plant, constructing new leach pads, and developing shallow oxide material. Furthermore, the company is planning to access the substantial sulphide reserves and refurbish the existing concentrator, with updated resource and reserve estimates anticipated in the second half of 2026.
Exploration at the Nifty waste dump has also revealed promising near-surface copper oxide mineralization. Identified zones, such as 9 metres at 1.00% copper from surface, could offer a low-cost future feed source for the SXEW operation. This mineralized material is conveniently located close to existing infrastructure.
