The General Insurance Council is introducing a unified platform for hospital empanelment, a significant step for the insurance industry. This digital initiative is designed to simplify and standardize the onboarding process for more than 10,000 hospitals across India.
Under the new system, hospitals can achieve empanelment with all 32 participating insurance companies through a single online procedure and a common agreement. This approach replaces the previous fragmented system requiring individual agreements with each insurer. This streamlining is expected to enhance negotiating power and operational efficiency for the insurance sector.
Complementing this industry-wide effort, IFFCO-TOKIO General Insurance is undertaking a substantial upgrade of its core IT system. The company anticipates this technological enhancement will lead to faster claims processing, more efficient underwriting, and improved direct sales capabilities, further benefiting its customer base and overall operations.
