Glynn Luznyj has been named the preferred candidate to lead Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service as its new Chief Fire Officer. Commissioner Ben Adams announced on Tuesday that Luznyj, currently the deputy chief fire officer, was selected following a thorough recruitment process. This appointment is in anticipation of the retirement of the current chief, Rob Barber, later this year.
Luznyj's career with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spans approximately 30 years, beginning as a trainee in 1996. He has held various positions, progressing to the principal management team in 2015 and becoming deputy chief in 2021. His national contributions include leadership roles in smoke detection and the Fire Leaders Association. In 2024, he was recognized with the King's Fire Service Medal for his distinguished service.
