7 Sep
Summary
- A Rs250 crore project will build 84km of drainage lines.
- Sewage treatment and pumping stations are included.
- The project is World Bank funded and state-guaranteed.
Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has finalized a Rs250 crore detailed project report (DPR) for an underground sewerage network in the Ambad and Satpur MIDC estates. This revised proposal, aligned with Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran's recommendations, will be submitted for technical approval next week. The project encompasses laying nearly 84km of underground drainage lines across both industrial zones.
Key components include the construction of a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and a Sewage Pumping Station (SPS) to enhance sewage management. Approximately 8 MLD of sewage is generated by the over 3,500 industrial units in these estates. The project, estimated to cost Rs250 crore, a reduction from an earlier Rs290 crore, will be financed through a World Bank loan, with the state government acting as guarantor.
This initiative addresses a long-standing demand from industrialists, who have advocated for improved drainage infrastructure for over a decade. The development is seen as a significant step towards modernizing the industrial belt's essential services.
