In a significant move against food adulteration, the Nashik division of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has confiscated over 5,500kg of substandard food products. This intensified drive, occurring during the ongoing festive season, saw the seizure of more than 3,200kg of refined soybean oil from an oil mill in Bhagur. The confiscated oil, valued at over Rs5.4 lakh, included both loose and packaged varieties.
Further reinforcing the crackdown, FDA officials raided a spice manufacturing unit in the Tigrania Industrial area near Dwarka. This operation resulted in the confiscation of 2,230kg of various spices, including turmeric, chilli, and coriander powders, worth over Rs11 lakh. The unit faced action for labeling violations, suspected misbranding, and failure to meet quality standards.
These operations were conducted under the guidance of senior FDA officials, with a strong emphasis on ensuring citizens receive safe and high-quality food during the festive period. The FDA has issued a stern warning of legal action against establishments compromising food quality and encourages the public to report any suspicions.
