26 Apr
Summary
- AIESL aims to serve more international airlines from Nagpur.
- EASA approval is being sought for Airbus base maintenance.
- Facility successfully revived a grounded Boeing 777 after years.

AIESL, a prominent state-owned MRO provider, is strategically expanding its Nagpur facility with the goal of serving a greater number of international airlines. The company is actively working towards obtaining approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to conduct base maintenance on Airbus aircraft at this premium location.
This expansion follows a significant achievement where AIESL successfully revived a Boeing 777 (VT-ALL) that had been grounded for six years. This complex restoration involved replacing over 3,000 components and completing more than 4,000 maintenance tasks, showcasing the facility's extensive capabilities. The Nagpur site has already serviced over 240 wide-body Boeing 777s and other narrow-body aircraft.
Further bolstering its service portfolio, AIESL is investigating the potential to perform passenger-to-freighter (P2F) conversions for Boeing 777 aircraft at the Nagpur facility. The site is equipped with two wide-body hangars, an engine run-up bay, and a large engine test cell, underscoring its comprehensive infrastructure for advanced aviation maintenance.
