As of October 11, 2025, the state of Nagaland continues to operate a thriving lottery system, which was established in 1972 to provide the state government with a stable source of income. Unlike most other Indian states, where lottery games and operations are completely prohibited, Nagaland is one of the 13 states where these activities have been permitted since 1967.
The Nagaland State Lotteries hold draws daily, with different lottery names and prize amounts used each day. The top prize is valued at a substantial Rs 1 crore, including the Super Prize amount. Three of the daily lotteries are Dear Morning, Dear Day, and Dear Evening, with tickets costing Rs 6 each.
The Director of Nagaland State Lotteries oversees and plans these daily draws, which take place at P.R. Hill Junction, Kohima. Winners of prizes up to Rs 10,000 can be paid directly by the authorized distributors, while larger prizes must be claimed within 30 days at the Director's office or the relevant state's Nodal Office.
